As one of five children, Nickey began her education during a time of desegregation in her hometown. Nickey comes to us from the “Natural State” (aka Arkansas), where she grew up in a rural area outside of North Little Rock. One of her most meaningful accomplishments is being able to continue the tradition her mother started by taking her own two children to the public library to enjoy books, crafts and conversations every Friday. In her spare time, India still enjoys reading, learning, traveling, building community and having fun with diverse people. After years of teaching students, India now works with teachers as a professional development educator at PBIS Rewards. India has been a diversity director for preschool through 8th grade students, has started youth ministries in various organizations and founded a women’s ministry that is still going strong after 20 years. She has a long, rich history of building up, educating and developing youth. India taught at public, parochial and independent schools in Evansville and Indianapolis. She later obtained a masters degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University. She attended Indiana University on a full academic scholarship. Those weekly experiences inspired India to become a teacher. ![]() ![]() India was inspired by her mother’s use of creativity to not let limited resources keep her family from having enriching experiences. Every Friday, her mother would take her and her little brother to the public library to “travel” to a new country and learn about different cultures through books, crafts and conversations. Her love for reading, learning, diversity, community, travel and fun began at an early age. India Williams is a native of Evansville, IN. Kara’s perfect day would include Hallmark movies, being surrounded by water, Doritos, and peanut M &M’s and laughing with her friends! The next road trip is constant in conversation as Kara loves creating adventures with her boys and husband. Her family is constantly begging her to turn down the radio and stop singing so loudly. She is a pop culture junkie and will challenge anyone to some 80’s and 90’s trivia. Kara can be found at home cooking with her three boys who seem to never have enough to eat. She now resides in Warrick County with her family. She is beyond thrilled to be back in her hometown working for a company that puts students’ needs first and has a passion for education. Kara finally left the school setting to become an EdTech consultant for districts all over the state of Indiana and a national trainer for Google. She has served as an eLearning coach, coordinator for the Indiana Department of Education and director of instructional technology. As her career in education grew, she found a love for technology and the doors it opened for her students. It makes sense that for more than 14 years, Kara spent time as an English teacher in the secondary setting. Kara has always had an eye for detail and thrives on organization and processes.
